Mama Goose Play School

Our Program

Your child is attending a playschool. Thus, the focus is on play and how it develops as your child moves through his/her early learning years, which are the most important of their lives. Our play-based learning will be extended by themes, but the focus is on your child, so the learning will be centered upon their interests and ideas. This is called emergent curriculum and is a wonderful way for your child to learn and grow. There will be activity centres for your child including: Dramatic Play areas (housekeeping, costumes, construction), Block Play, Puzzles and Manipulatives, Playdough, Open Art, Music, Sand and Water play, Science, a monthly cooking experience, Books and Pre-literacy, daily circles, calendar and transportation play, as well as a quiet area and gross motor play and outside play (weather permitting).

Philosophy

Children learn through their play. It is our responsibility as early childcare educators to provide an environment that honours their play and creates an environment that extends their learning. The activities in Mama Goose will expand your child’s feelings of self-esteem, help them problem solve, and aid in their cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. We model healthy lifestyles and social values with an emphasis on learning through our social relationships and our understanding of the world around us. We treat each individual child with respect and offer them a supportive setting in which to develop in all areas. Each day of our program we offer songs, stories, art, manipulatives, puzzles, physical activities and, weather permitting, outside play. Our daily schedule is based on both structured and non-structured activities as this is a playschool where the play of your child is our main focus. Our program recognizes your individual families and promotes the inclusion of every family and their child regardless of age, culture, religion, socio economic status or abilities. Our philosophy is that each child deserves to learn and experience growth in an atmosphere that truly values and encourages their development.
