Marpole Place Neighbourhood House

Marpole Place Neighbourhood House is operated by Marpole Oakridge Area Council Society (MOACS); a non-profit charitable organization that is community created and operated. The focus of MOACS is to serve the people living in the surrounding area of Marpole and foster a greater sense of community.

MOACS was incorporated in 1975 and moved into its current location at the corner of West 70th and Hudson Street in 1985. Over the years, Marpole Place has offered a multitude of health, language, social, and recreational services and provided the services of a neighbourhood house without using the title. The goal of MOACS and its partners is to create a sense of community by developing educational opportunities for all ages and supporting the general health and well-being of the people in the neighbourhood. Marpole Place offers a supportive environment for groups to meet and help improve the Marpole Area. The very concept existents and operation of our neighbourhood is born out of grassroots determination and a desire to address common issues identified by neighbours, who worked together. We now operate as a Neighbourhood House in philosophy and in name.

Volunteers are at the heart of Marpole Place Neighbourhood House and help us deliver our many services and programs. We recruit and train regularily for many different positions including positions for the Board of Directors.
