Melissa DeCoste, RMT

Melissa just recently graduated from the 2200 hour program at Eastern College with high honors. Her program included 440 hours of hands on experience with also over 48 job shadowing hours. During her program she also gained over 20 hours of job experience from going to events and massaging people from areas such as Wellness Expos, Golf/Hockey tournaments and even during the Bluenose Marathon. Now just recently joined MTANS, Melissa is ready and more then excited to start getting a great clientele.

Melissa was always very active growing up. After her brother got her involved in wrestling she really liked learning how the body can function and how much damage the body can take when being active, which is when she decided that massage therapy would be the perfect profession for her. Melissa also loves giving back to the community that she grew up in, so after high school she followed her brothers footsteps and became a wrestling coach. She loves the idea of being able to help out her wrestling team with massage therapy and was awarded NSSAF "The Outstanding Service Award" back in 2015. She is a very passionate person and enjoys being able to help people.

With just graduating and now being a wrestling coach for over 5 years, Melissa knows a lot about how to stretch and strengthen muscles and likes to apply that during her treatments and home care. She also knows that not everyone has time throughout their day so she tries to make it as simple as possible and will work with your routine. Melissa also enjoys working with the fascia and applying joint mobilization within the treatment. She is very excited to learn different modalities such as hot stone, jade stone, cupping and even more on fascial techniques.

Along with treating clients with sore achy pain, Melissa had also treated clients with frozen shoulder, TMJ dysfunction, sciatic pain (piriformis syndrome), IT band contracture, headaches/migraines, whiplash, pregnancy and working with different spinal curves such as scoliosis and forward head carriage.
