Music in the Barns

Music in the Barns has spearheaded a new wave of alternative classical concerts in Toronto. “A vivid sensual experience” (Living Toronto Journal), Music in the Barns concerts transform the 7,500 sq. ft, 100 year old repurposed streetcar repair “barn”, the Artscape Wychwood Barns, pushing the boundaries of classical music performance with a progressive flair for combing the experimental and traditional.

Founded in 2008 by artistic director, Carol Gimbel, Music in the Barns encompasses a new model for classical music performance and education, incorporating their storefront studio as the heartbeat of its programming. With weekly programmes for all ages, classes range from private instrumental study to a yearly professional development workshop.

Music in the Barns Chamber Ensemble is comprised of a core group musicians and regular guest artists from across Canada and the US, working closely with Canadian composers and showcasing new compositions alongside modern and classical works.
