My Acadian Pastime

This Facebook page is dedicated to all the women in my family, past and present who found comfort and pleasure in creating crafts for family, friends, and complete strangers from near and afar.

Growing up in a small Acadian community of Margaree, Cape Breton, most of the local women spent their summers working in the tourism industry on the beautiful Cabot Trail. Autumn came, tourist lessened, and businesses closed down for the upcoming winter months.

The clicking of knitting needles became a familiar sound in our household, as the snow fell and covered the ground. At the age of 6, my mother taught me how to knit and bake and my Aunt Rita, who lived next door taught me how to crochet. This is where my passion for crafts began. Here I am, some 50 years later, and my childhood passion continues.
