Hi, my name is Andrea Radke, and I am the founder of Namibia Safaris Okotoks.
My love and passion about Africa started growing up as a girl in East Germany - I was fascinated by the TV shows about the wild life in Africa.
I put my dream into reality when I traveled to Namibia the first time around 1997, living on a farm in the Otjiwarongo area as well travelling extensively though northern Namibia, up to Botswana, the Chobe area as well as Victoria Falls. My time there was limited, and I had to return back to Germany, where I pursued an education as a veterinary technologist. I was able to use this education to qualify for a work visa, and so I returned to Namibia to live and work there from 2000 until 2003. During that time I made many friends, which I would not be shy to call my family. And you can say I contracted the Namibia bug.
Due to political reasons within the company I worked for, my visa was not renewed and I faced a decision to make - either go back to Germany, or take a chance and see Canada. I took a chance, and here I am - 10 years later, still in Canada.
I still work full-time in the Veterinary industry, but I did go back to Namibia a couple of times and am nurturing personal as well as professional relationships with many awesome people over there. Those are the people I will work with in order to make your trip to Namibia unforgettable. And I can not guarantee that you won't contract the Namibia bug. I hope you will return from your trip and will want to go back, since there is just so much to see, do and explore.
Namibia - twice in a lifetime!
