Oriental Arts Academy

Oriental Arts Academy provides traditional martial arts instruction in Karate & Jiu Jitsu for age groups from ages 4 and up. Since the mid 1970's we have maintained discipline, respect, and ATTITUDE in our teachings.

We have a strong, successful, goal oriented children’s program headed by Sensei Laurie Tonon, with 22 years in the martial arts, and her team of highly motivated Black Belts. We have seasoned, skilled Black Belts teaching our children, in a structured children's program. We do not have children teaching children.

Sensei's Carlo and Laurie Tonon and our Black Belt team members are world class instructors who have taught internationally. We provide Meditation classes and offer specialty courses in Knife Defense, Tactical Handcuffing, Defensive Tactics, and Assault Prevention for Women, to name a few.

Our client’s are individuals, groups, corporations, law enforcement agencies and security personnel. Instruction incorporates tactical, legal and medical considerations in order to help manage your risk.

We welcome you to visit our new facility at 1533 Bellevue Avenue. Our Dojo (place of learning) has distinctly oriental architecture fashioned after traditional training halls in Japan. It is a MUST SEE. We are in the old "La Toussaint" church in Minnow Lake below the offices of Orendorff and Associates, “Sudbury’s Personal Injury Lawyers”.

Oriental Arts Academy is also the host of the longest consecutive running martial arts tournament in northern Ontario. The "Mid-Canada Karate Championships" is an excellent way for our students to interact and compete with individuals of their own age category and skill level from different martial arts.

We also have affiliates in Hanmer and Espanola.
