Orthodox Christian Mission of Potsdam

The St. Olympia Orthodox Church of Potsdam is under the OCA Diocese of New York/New Jersey in cooperation with the OCA Archdiocese of Canada and the Monastic Community of St. Silouan, Johnstown, ON. Members of this parish are from all ethnic backgrounds: Greek, Russian, Albanian, Ukranian, Serbian, Eritrean and just plain American. Services are primarily in English and the music chanted is from both the Byzantine and Russian traditions. The community is a mix of students, post-doctoral researchers and families; of "cradle Orthodox" and converts to the faith. The priest Fr. Luke Majoros is heiromonks from the Monastery of St. Silouan the Athonite in Spencerville, Ontario (about 45 minutes from Potsdam).
