More about OsteoKlinika Pain Management and Rehabilitation

At Osteoklinika our approach is very unique and effective. It took Andrew Subieta many years to develop specific protocols to treat conditions affecting the lower back, shoulders, knees, feet, wrists and other parts of the body. At Osteoklinika we use an integrative method to treat pathological changes that cause pain, restricted range of motion and inflammation. We call it BioStructural Integration™. The treatment starts from a structural correction of the spine, pelvis and other joints by using osteopathic modalities. In order for the correction to stay in place we use cranial adjustments to release the central nervous system, myofascial release of the connective tissues that cause postural distortions and neuromuscular massage therapy to release muscular spasm or tightness. Electrotherapy and ultrasound can also be used to interrupt the pain cycle. Everything is done within a one hour treatment. When the musculoskeletal system is corrected this way the body can start the healing process. At this time we recommend BioFlex laser therapy to speed up the healing at the cellular level. Low Intensity Laser treatments are 30 to 60 minutes in duration and are done by one of our certified laser therapists. After the pain is reduced and structure realigned our patients have one-on-one session with a Certified Yoga Teacher to show them proper "Rehab Yoga" exercises to stretch and strengthten the injured area. One month free membership is provided by the clinic in one of the Hot Yoga Wellness locations depending on your choice. - Andrew Subieta

What is Osteopathy?

Despite originating over 140 years ago, little is known about osteopathy by the general public. It was developed in 1874 by Andrew Taylor frustrated with what he viewed to be the ineffective and hazardous nature of remedies of that time. He believed that the doctor’s role in treating disease was to restore proper musculoskeletal function to the body through correcting structural problems arising within joints, muscles and connective tissues. Osteopathic treatment would return proper function to the nerves supplying every structure in the body and allow the blood to flow freely throughout the circulatory system. Muscles, joints, internal organs, connective tissues, nerves and blood vessels function together in an integrated manner. If on part of the body is restricted, then the rest of the body must adapt and compensate for this, eventually leading to inflammation, pain, stiffness and other health conditions.

The role of the osteopath is to find the source of the problems (not to focus on symptoms), and through precise manual diagnosis and treatment, allow the body an opportunity to heal itself.

What is Neuromuscular Massage Therapy?

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT) is an advanced massage technique that focuses on stimulating the origin and insertion of the muscles and areas of the muscle that exhibit metabolic changes called Myofascial Trigger Points. These points are located within taut bands of muscle and are treated with the application of sustained pressure.

Longitudinal strokes along the muscles fibers are also used in a specific manner to reduce hypertonicity of the muscles. NMT, by manipulating the soft tissues of the body (muscles, tendons and connective tissue), balances the Central Nervous System with the Musculoskeletal system and corrects any imbalances between the two. As a result chronic pain is reduced, the function of joints and muscles is improved and range of motion is increased. It also speeds the healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.

What is Low Intensity Laser Therapy?

Low Intensity Laser Therapy (LILT) has been the chosen method of treatment for thousands of people suffering from various conditions. This proven and effective treatment eliminates pain, improves tissue repair, reduces inflammation, restores mobility and helps people regain their quality of life. Laser therapy is the use of monochromatic light emission from low intensity laser diode or an array of high intensity super luminous diodes. It penetrates the tissue without generation of heat. Low Intensity Laser Therapy unlike High Intensity Laser used in surgery or hair removal doesn’t damage the tissue cells. Instead it stimulates healing at the cellular level by increasing biochemical energy that is needed by the cell to regenerate. Treatments take about 30-60 minutes and should be applied two or more times per week. #biostructuralintegration #osteopath www.osteoklinika.com
