Ottawa Valley Music Festival

The Ottawa Valley Music Festival (OVMF) is a non-profit charitable corporation which promotes the appreciation of classical music by presenting a series of classical music concerts from April to September each year throughout the Ottawa Valley. The OVMF Concert Series has been presented since 1994 and features the Festival Chorus supported by a professional orchestra and soloists.

The Chorus comprises dedicated, music-loving volunteers who under the direction of our Artistic Director, work together to attain a high level of professionalism and excellence. The choir has enjoyed membership of as many as 90 voices in its early seasons and has now evolved into an ensemble of between 30 and 50 singers for its various performances. Chorus members come together from the many communities of the Ottawa Valley and beyond; our performance season extends from first rehearsals in February to our final concert at the end of September.

In recent seasons the Chorus has seen sold out audiences for such large choral works as:

F.J. Haydn - Creation
F. Handel - Messiah
F. Mendelssohn - 2nd Symphony "Lobegesang"
W.A. Mozart - Requiem & C Minor Mass
Ch. Gounod - St. Cecilia Mass
As well as for less familiar choral repertoire such as:

Charles Ives - Celestial Country
John Rutter - Magnificat
And a capella works such as:

Palestrina - Missa "Christi Aeterna Munera"
Allegri - Miserere

In addition, the Chorus has presented works by Canadian composers, such as:

Eleanor Daley
Healey Willan
Pierick Houdy
The Ottawa Valley Music Festival continues to reach out into the community to reward young musicians through a variety of programs aimed at nurturing talents and supporting a life-time interest in music.
The Ottawa Valley Music Festival is also a proud supporter of Camp Glissando, a Summer Music Camp for ages 6 to 14 years.
