Nature is a great healer. Pilates teaches us how to focus and center ourselves in a way that you do not expect. Infact most of my students tell me they were surprised with so many other improvements besides a more fit body.How does centering, focusing, breathing & concentration of Pilates flow into our lives every day?
I would like to show you how to move with ease no matter what your age or condition. Pilates has a powerful neurological connection to the way we align so many different systems in the body. The result is a feeling of centeredness and calm that you didn't expect. Most people feel it is very meditative. Similar to Yoga but Pilates uses a different scientific technology of intelligent structural neuro physio movement. Many people will never know the feeling of total pure alignment fitness ease of movement and good health. When they work out they are thinking along one lines of how can I change my body. Pilates is different in that in order to do Pilates correctly, you must also become aware of your breathing and a synchronistic movement which is mediated by the neurological system in concert with your awakened sense of concentration & awareness. That's all I know. It's tough to explain what happens but it's something short of magical. Do I love it ? Yes. It has literally saved my life. More about that later...but what I love more is when my students have that "aha" moment...the moment when they "get it". A few minutes on the mat going through fundamentals and they are centered calm and focused. Its a wonderful feeling and we haven't even gotten to the exercise yet. It feels like a renewed sense of clarity when you connect the dots so to speak. Everything feels aligned. Some of my students say they feel refreshed and less stressed. They have been holding their breath all day and finally on the mat they are able to let go and breath. So of course one feels better when they breath more fully. Breath is a great healer. We just have to remember. that is what I am here for. To remind you. The quickest remedy is to get outside in nature and walk and breathe. The simplest and often most helpful things in life are free. But we already know that innately right?
