I've been working in the fitness industry for 9 years in positions ranging from Membership Sales to Personal Trainer to Assistant Fitness Manager at a variety of centres. I'm now an independent personal trainer and certified Fascial Stretch Therapist, insured by Sports & Fitness Insurance Canada.
My professional certifications are as follows:
Agatsu Kettlebell Instructor, FMS 2- Advanced Correctives, ACSM-CPT, British Columbia Coaching Award (NCCP), Sports Nutrition, Sports Med BC Trainer Aider
I’ve been a multi-sport athlete my entire life, having played on competitive baseball, basketball, volleyball and track & field teams; I also enjoy recreational hockey and golf. While in high school, I coached 2 basketball teams (10-12yr old girls/16-17yr old boys) to consolation championships and a co-ed volleyball team full of superstars, many of whom went on to play in university.
My post-secondary education includes stints in marketing at Algonquin College and a diploma in Human Kinetics from Langara College.
Areas of Expertise:
Fascial Stretch Therapy- gentle stretching along fascial lines using traction, oscillation and circumduction to increase clients’ mobility, stability and body awareness. FMS 2 Advanced Correctives- Administering functional movement screens as well as implementing corrective exercises to address mobility/motor control issues and movement patterning Functional Strength Training– Focus on lifting form and movement patterns that translate to the demands of everyday life.
Olympic Lifting– developing explosive strength via performing the snatch, clean, and clean and jerk
Powerlifting– squat, chest press and deadlift for maximal strength gains
Bodybuilding– focusing on body symmetry and isolated movements to maximize lean muscle mass
Nutrition and Weight Management- Progressive dietary alterations that can easily be adhered to with the goal of changing eating habits instead of dieting
Sport Specific Training– Creating specific, periodized programs to address the demands of each sport with a focus on basketball, baseball, hockey, golf, volleyball and track & field
Injury Rehab and Athletic Taping- Working as a team with physio, occupational and massage therapists to ensure quick recovery from acute injuries
Chronic Injury Rehab- Addressing pain caused by constant poor posture (upper/lower cross syndrome), improper body mechanics and stress related muscle/fascial tension
