Clothesline® is an innovative program that reaches out to millions of individuals in more than a thousand communities across Canada. Through the program, the Association collects reusable clothing and small household items from generous donors. Household pick-ups are free and can be arranged by calling 1-800-505-5525 or by visiting diabetes.ca/promise.
Items accepted as donations include clothing, linens, shoes, small appliances, electronics, toys, cell phones, books and more. Just about anything that clutters garages, basements, attics and closets. The Association currently has 29 Clothesline® offices across Canada from British Columbia to NewFoundland (with the exception of Quebec).
The Clothesline® program has been operating across Canada for 25 years. Each year, over 42 million kilograms of clothing, household items and furniture is diverted from Canadian landfills.
Donations are solicited and collected through a variety of methods including:
• A toll-free number that residents can call to arrange their own pick-up – 1-800-505-5525
• Donors may also schedule a free pick-up online by visiting diabetes.ca/promise
• 1,750 red clothing donation boxes located throughout communities across Canada
• Donation centres and attended stations
• School clothing drives
• Bag and flyer programs
