We are Canada’s healthcare union with more than 57,000 frontline healthcare workers in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and homecare agencies in communities throughout Ontario.
As a union, our first priority is to ensure that the work of our members is recognized and valued by employers.
This is the traditional role of unions, achieved through collective bargaining and other labour relations activities.
But in a time when the healthcare system is undergoing profound transformation, we also have a responsibility to make sure that the voices of frontline workers are heard and respected when decisions are made about healthcare delivery.
As frontline workers, we see what healthcare actually looks like on the ground. We have direct relationships with patients and their families. We provide day-to-day services that are fundamentally important to the smooth, efficient, and humane functioning of the healthcare system.
