A visit with a classical homeopath is quite a different experience from seeing a medical doctor.

On the first visit to a homeopath expect to be there for about 2 hours. A homeopath is interested in the patient’s medical history, emotional and mental makeup, eating and sleeping habits, dreams, fears, anxieties, stresses and, of course, the main reason that brought you. To be listened be unconditionally for a long period of time is an experience that is rare these days when everything is fast and immediate. Most patients feel a sense of lightness even after just spending time with the homeopath. But the first interview is just the start of the journey to health.

Based on the initial interview, the homeopath will seek a remedy that is most similar to the individual patient’s state. Follow-ups are scheduled after six to eight weeks after the patient has taken his or her remedy a follow up. Follow-ups last about 45 minutes, here the homeopath will look for any changes in the overall sense of well being in the patient. At the end of a follow-up remedy may be prescribed only if the previous remedy has stopped acting. Such prescribing is called “constitutional” as it takes into account the totality of your symptoms.

However, homeopathy is well suited for acute prescribing for example cold, coughs, indigestion, vomit and many others.
