For The History of Shoot or be Shot Photography - The woman behind the camera
Hi! My name is Danica Stonhouse (that’s pronounced “DAN-ITS-A”). I’m an Alberta-born Professional Photographer.
I first picked up a camera when I was eight years old. My first 4 cameras were 35mm film – which taught me to shoot with discipline, precision and foresight. As I shifted into Digital Photography, the technology allowed my craft to expand into wondrous new directions.
Each of my photographs is an explosion of colour – like walking into a candy store. Every photoset is painstakingly post-processed to convey the feeling and taste of each client’s unique desires.
My creative-conceptual shoots provide an opportunity for my subjects to step out of everyday life and into a storybook fantasy – full of colour, mystery and adventure. There is nothing quite like playing dress-up with a friend (new or old) and creating beautiful one-of-a-kind works of art.
I also love shooting pets and wildlife. I grew up surrounded by animals - I truly admire their beauty and honesty. As a photographer, I revel in their unpredictability.
Photography is simply an amazing art form. I love being able to share mine with others. I enjoy looking through the lens, pressing the shutter and making visions come alive.
