Star X

Located at 129 ½ Hunter Street in the heart of Peterborough's exciting, and expanding art scene, STAR X operates as a space for exciting contemporary art exhibitions.

Managed, maintained, and affiliated with Evans Contemporary, STAR X showcases local, national, and international contemporary art and includes exhibitions of painting, sculpture, print, sound installation, and fine art craft.

The gallery aims to exhibit work that is thought provoking, well executed, and veering slightly outside the mainstream art scene.
As a juried exhibition space, STAR X is available for bookings on a monthly basis. Fees for a one-month exhibition are $350, with a minimum 10% commission on sales. Running as a negative profit gallery with no outside funding, this fee covers the basic overhead of the space.

Openings at STAR X take place every first Friday of the month, and are coordinated as part of a First Friday Gallery Crawl that will take place throughout the Hunter/Water Arts building. These openings coincide with events at Evans Contemporary's main space in Bankers Common as well as with other galleries and studios in the building. STAR X will provide marketing through social media and on its website, but artists are also encouraged to augment this with their own advertising.

The artist is responsible for transportation of the work to and from the gallery, hosting the exhibition every Saturday (12 - 6pm) during the run of the exhibit, and insurance of the work during transport, installation, and exhibition (if desired). Installation assistance is coordinated and available through Evans Contemporary.
