Station 29

Located in the historic Sexsmith train station, Station 29 provides photographers with options of rustic charm and modern studio space. Two studio's are available for rent, the main studio downstairs and a complete Boudoir studio upstairs. Both studio's are equipped with a full compliment of studio lighting, soft boxes, lighting modifiers, backdrops and an assortment of props. The exterior of the station can provide a variety of options to your next shoot as well.
Seasoned pros will appreciate being able to focus on the shoot without having to worry about the pain of equipment setup and tear down.
Photographers new to studio lighting will appreciate the availability of easy to use studio equipment and a helping hand to get you on your way.

An hourly rate of $30 includes studio space, 4 studio lights with soft boxes and a wireless trigger system.

Glitter of any type is not allowed in either studio.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

While we understand that sometimes circumstances arise that are beyond your control, it is your responsibility to ensure that you give adequate notice of cancellation to prevent losing your entire booking fee. All fees are non-refundable, cancellations with 48 hours written notice are transferable to a different date for the same photographer; you may only transfer or resell your booking to another photographer with the written consent of Station 29.


Walk In Policy

If you are suddenly stuck for a spot due to unexpected circumstances, you are welcome to contact us and see if any studio space is available and if someone can open Station 29 up for you. While we will try our best to accommodate these requests, please understand that we book on a strict first-come, first-served basis. Also, due to the nature of last minute requests, we may be unable to open the studio for you due to other commitments and therefore cannot guarantee that we will be always be able to accommodate Walk-Ins. Normal studio hours apply.

Overtime Policy

Whether you start on time or not, you are responsible for finishing within your allotted time. If there is no one else booked after you, you are welcome to continue using the space at regular rates. If, however, you run past your end time and it interrupts the start time of the next Photographer, you will be responsible for paying a penalty of $35 which is applied to the next photographer’s fees. We strongly encourage you to be on time.


Insurance and Liability

Station 29 does not provide liability insurance for you and your clients. You are responsible for having your own liability insurance. All photographers utilizing the venue will be required to sign a waiver releasing Station 29, its owners, heirs, and assigns from all moral and legal liability and explicitly accepting all responsibility for any and all claims resulting from sessions conducted during your rental period.


Pricing Policy

We have made our best efforts to make our pricing accessible and advise that our rates are not negotiable and are subject to change with 30 days’ notice to accommodate demand, reflect inflation, and remain competitive within the industry. We also reserve the right to host, promote, and discount various bookings at our discretion.

Locked Door Policy

For the protection and privacy of our clients, equipment, and photographers while they work, the main door after normal business hours (4:30 PM) is to remain locked. Do not choose convenience over the safety and intimacy you require for your session.


Equipment Rentals

You must sign a waiver releasing Station 29 from any and all legal and moral responsibility for injury or damages to persons or privately owned property resulting from the use of the lighting equipment. You are not responsible for the replacement cost of burnt-out bulbs; you are responsible for the replacement cost of broken or damaged bulbs, and equipment.


Fabric Goods Cleaning Fees

For sanitary reasons all of our fabrics, sheets, pillow covers, costumes, and fabric backdrops are laundered and/or sanitized on a regular basis and therefore a cleaning fee may be charged for certain items, particularly linens, draping, and drops used for boudoir and newborn sessions. While Station 29 understands that items can become soiled , you may be held responsible for the replacement cost of any items that are permanently or irreparably stained or damaged during your session.


Studio Cleaning Fees

The studio must be clean and ready for use at all times and you are therefore responsible for ensuring that after your session you sweep, mop or wipe any debris or spills on the furniture and floors, and place all garbage and recycling in the cans provided. Surfaces used for sessions involving babies or children must be cleaned with disinfectant to prevent the spread of disease and illness and hats, wigs, and shoes must be treated with antibacterial/insecticide spray. Cleaning supplies are kept safely stored in the cupboard in the bathroom. Failure to properly clean the studio upon completion of your booking will result in a cleaning fee of $50/hour.


Seamless Paper Backdrop Charges

Seamless paper backdrop use is charged per horizontal foot plus visible use (handprints, tears, wrinkles, creases) on the vertical surface of the backdrop. Upon completion of your session, Station 29 will measure the length of used paper and bill you accordingly. Payment for use of paper backdrop will be collected at the end of your session(s.)


Liquor

Station 29 is not a licensed facility. If you wish to serve alcohol at your session, private event, or function you will need to purchase a license through Alberta Liquor and Gaming Control.


Food

You may hire an outside caterer or self-cater using commercially prepared food only; due to public health regulations, you may not prepare food on site or bring homemade food into the studio at any time to serve to clients or guests. Shared Bookings

You may have up to four (4) photographers and/or assistants included on your contract. "Assistants" include make-up artists, second-shooters, hair dressers, etc. You may add additional photographers/assistants to a maximum of eight (8) for an additional fee of $25 each; each individual must sign the liability waiver attached to the primary photographer's contract. Please note that due to fire and safety regulations we will not permit excessive persons to be on site and will refuse admittance to individuals exceeding an acceptable limit.



Behaviour and Conduct

Station 29 will not stand for any violence, destruction of property, vandalism, intoxication, or sexual harassment by/to the studio, property, photographers or their guests at any time. We expect that all photographers and their guests on the premises be treated professionally and courteously at all times. The owners of Station 29 reserve the right to refuse future rentals if this policy is not followed.


Damage Deposits

At the discretion of Station 29, you may be requested to pay a damage deposit of up to $500 (paid up front and refunded) for event and equipment rentals. Please discuss details when you confirm your booking.
