My STORY

Hello! I’m Suni...

I cook the food and tasty treats you see at my little corner of the Farmers Market and on the pictures I post from time to time on our Facebook page.

I was born in Liverpool (Nova Scotia), but lived for the most part in Sri Lanka, a beautiful island formerly known as Ceylon. It was there during my years of aid work into some of the most remote areas of a war torn Sri Lanka, that I discovered early on that talking about food was a powerful way to encourage and to build a bridge with the precious village women who always took great pride and joy in sharing their amazing cooking with me… but little did I know then, they had in return given me a gift - a love to cook and a passion for all things spice which has NOW turned into my own business, and a great way to connect with my new community here at home in Nova Scotia too!

If you're interested to learn more about my food, check out my menu selection on this page ... it is all developed by myself. Real Sri Lankan food with a Canadian twist! I try to do a healthy balance of vegetarian/ non - vegetarian items (popular Sri Lankan rice dishes, short eats and of course, cakes!) – mostly from scratch, with fresh local ingredients whenever I can get my hands on them. I cook and bake through trial and error, perfecting my recipes, only to share the best at the market.

I have a love for family, friends, food, and fun! And it is from my heart, my home, and my spice corner at my market stall that I invite YOU into all that I Iove too!
