More about The Canadian School of Ballet

The Canadian School of Ballet was established in Winnipeg in 1938 by Dr. Gweneth Lloyd, O.C. and Betty Farrally, O.C., founders of The Royal Winnipeg Ballet and directors of the dance programme at the Banff Centre. Their contribution to dance in Canada has been well documented. Mel Brown and Lori Larson, mentored by Lloyd and Farrally, took over the studio in 1985 and were dedicated to preserving the legacy set out for them in shaping the future of dance for future generations. Regeanna Stubel and Carley Bailey, mentored by Brown and Larson are the proud new owners and directors of The Canadian School of Ballet and are happy to carry on the legacy that has been a part of Kelowna for 53 years.

The Canadian School of Ballet is committed to introducing young children to the joy of dance, the wonder of performance and the development of poise, grace and self confidence. From their introduction as a recreational interest to the aspiring professional dancer, our mandate is to provide programs in ballet, jazz, tap modern musical theatre and highland and are designed to allow students to develop to their utmost potential. We want our students' dance experience to provide personal satisfaction, a wonderful sense of achievement, and an appreciation not only of dance, but great theatre and fine music that will last a lifetime.
