Fall 2016 Yoga Classes

Dear Ones,
I’m back in beautiful Grey County, after a most stimulating month in Vancouver. It was also something I’d like to share, so let me tell you a little about my time there.
As a daily practice, I naturally woke up at 6:30 for a shower and ablutions, and prepared for the morning ahead. After feeling squeaky clean and dry, the aroma of coffee wafted through the Lane House that we were able to rent for a great price. I poured the coffee slowly into my mug looking forward to one of the three blends we picked up from the small grocer we also walked to. Decaf, but delicious. FYI - we did no driving at all. If we wanted something we walked, and occasionally took the bus – and sky train, once to go to the Mall, and once to go across town to Banyan Books. But the majority of our time we spent in ‘the hood’.
After checking email, which I could receive but not send, I popped a slice of gluten free bread into the toaster and when it was lightly browned, I topped it off with a delicious smear of organic peanut butter. A small bowl of fresh, organic granola, blueberries, milk and yoghurt completed my breakfast and prepared me for the fifteen minute walk and daily yoga class, in which was taught by a variety of teachers from OPEN DOOR YOGA.
Walking back and forth to those classes opened my eyes to how people live and get by on ‘The Drive”. Lots of poverty, drugs, and one of a kinds, and also kindness and respect, and a wonderful diversity of people from all over the world. (Not tourists, but people who had found their way to Canada to make a life for themselves and their families.) I feel grateful for it all - including the people who jammed in the parks where my granddaughters laughed and climbed and ran to the next thing to amuse themselves with - and the shop owners who daily supplied me with incredible colours and textures, the fresh aromas of fruits and veg, the fish mongers, and yes even the heady, spicy smells of the butchers’ block. Being so close to such variety made me rethink a lot of my ideas.
Really, my whole being there was a daily practice. It was both challenging and stimulating and really gave me some insights into being a student once more, a student of humanity. And, it’s a whole different thing being on the other side of the room, looking to someone else for guidance instead of it being such a singular journey. So after doing some soul searching, I’m ready to begin my own classes again. Our first Dancing Turtle Yoga session begins this fall on the 13th of September 2016 and continues through October 31st.
If you would like to register from September to December 20th, OR sign up for 2 classes per week receive a $20 discount for each. Please let friends know their first class is free if they have a mind to try a class out. Please do so ahead of time and let me know by email or phone.
Each session is $98 without a discount.
If you should arrive here by chance or through your own determination, I will be delighted to see you.
Depending upon numbers, classes will resume at 9:30 and 4:30 Tuesdays and Thursdays and an evening class either Tuesday or Thursday at 7 p.m.
