More about The Keppoch

Our Mission
To provide outdoor recreation and education opportunities for local residents and visitors of all ages while working to conserve access to natural wilderness areas and create economic stimulation. We aspire to achieve this mission by constructing and sustaining a network of quality non-motorized trails for all ability levels while incorporating the best of our highland landscapes. We have approximately 300 acres of land under lease or land use agreements and will need to partner with Crown Land Managers for further land access for continued growth.

Positive Action for Keppoch Society (PAK) was established in 2010 by a group of residents and businessmen with a vision of The Keppoch as a outdoor recreation hub for the Northeastern Nova Scotia. Their goal is to encourage recreational use of Keppoch Mountain and promote the natural beauty of the region. Major support for this effort has come from the Town and County of Antigonish, the Province of Nova Scotia, and the Federal Governement through ACOA.

The Keppoch Project is a not-for-profit, volunteer driven endeavor. PAK is made up of nine Directors, that creates policy and strategic planning. In the near future, Keppoch Facility staff will manage the day to day operations.

About The Keppoch
The Positive Action for Keppoch Society (PAK) has begun constructing a 40km non-motorized, multi-use wilderness trail system supported by a clubhouse that offers bathrooms, a warm seating area, canteen, staff offices, tool storage, outside decks, and picnic area. Trail Construction started on May 7, 2012 and we anticipate the renovations to the clubhouse to begin in mid summer to early fall, finishing in the fall 2016. With proper planning and implementation we see “The Keppoch” as a premier year-round outdoor recreation facility with the capabilities to host a multitude of activities and events.

The Keppoch will employee up to 10 full-time and part-time employees. It will offer canteen services, shuttle services for the gravity bike park, equipment rentals, instruction, and guides for activities such as Mountain Biking, Hiking, Snowshoeing, and Cross Country Skiing. Other activities such as Alpine Ski Touring (no lift access), Tubing and Coasting, Geocaching, Kids Camps, Festivals, Carnivals, Live Entertainment, Naturalist Tours, and Picnic areas will be available for people of all ages.

In order for The Keppoch to sustain and continue to improve itself membership and/or daypasses will be sold along with fees for equipment rentals, shuttle services, guided tours, and instruction. An equipment repair shop will also be located on site to ensure rental equipment and visitors equipment doesn’t end someone's day early. Private for-profit business wishing to locate at The Keppoch will be charged a license fee to help cover operating, maintenance, and development costs. We will strive to keep our rates reasonable so that everyone will be able to enjoy the trails.
