Hi, I’m Carrie owner of The Sugar Shack Spa. I would like to introduce you to the art of Body Sugaring.

What is Body Sugaring?

Body Sugaring is an all-natural method of long lasting hair removal. The sugar paste is made using only sugar, water, and lemon juice. All the ingredients in the products used are all-natural and never tested on animals.

How is Body Sugaring different from Waxing?

One of the major differences between body sugaring and waxing is wax products are made of resins which adhere to live skin cells on the body. Because wax sticks to any surface it is applied to, pulling it away causes unwanted discomfort and risks damaging the epidermis layer of the skin.

The sugar paste used during sugaring treatments will not adhere to live skin cells. Therefore, when the sugar paste is removed, it only gently exfoliates dead skin cells while removing the hair, leaving behind freshened skin.
Additionally, because the sugar paste is all-natural and water soluble, it can be easily rinsed away if it is accidentally flicked on a client’s clothing or anything else.

Waxing any area of a client with hot wax risks burning sensitive skin. In some cases it can cause scarring. Also, wax is removed in the opposite direction of the natural hair growth which can cause damage to the follicle opening as well as causing more pain to the client than necessary.

Sugaring is done at body temperature which means there is never a risk of burning the skin. The sugar paste adheres to the hair, not the skin, and lubricates the hair root for easier removal from the follicle. This, combined with the hair being removed in the natural direction of growth, means a much more comfortable experience for everyone.

With body sugaring, the hair only has to be an eighth of an inch long for optimal results which means no more growing your hair long just so it can be removed. After the initial few treatments, the average time between treatments is 2 to 4 weeks for facial and 4 to 6 weeks for other areas of the body. The first few treatments are done closer together to get as many hairs as possible in to the anagen stage (growth stage) at the same time. Clients are also asked to follow an at home skin care program of daily exfoliating and moisturizing. This will help condition the skin as well as eliminate ingrown hairs.

Following a regular sugaring schedule together with following the at home skin care program will help to achieve noticeable permanent hair reduction at a quicker rate.
