The Victor House

591 Victor House was originally built in 1920. From its date of construction until we purchased it in January, 2014, it was owned by three generations of the same family. The original owners were quite frugal, and much of the house remained relatively unchanged from the original design. This gives it a lot of character - which we love - but also means that we have a lot of work to do to get it to where we want it!

For us, the challenge of the renovations is to keep the house true to its original period style while updating the colours and fixtures. We are putting a lot of thought into our plans, and a lot of blood, sweat and tears into realizing them! This is our second renovation project, but even though we have many of the skills, there is still a lot to learn!

Once the house is in a stable state (the bathroom needed a complete overhaul and the kitchen is literally an empty room) we hope to use it to facilitate hospitality and events for people in our community. The dreams include weekly potlucks, a guest bedroom/laundry room, a sewing/craft room, an indoor greenhouse, a communal wine-making station, a tool-lending library and a woodworking shop.
