UBC Soccer for Dads

UBC Soccer for Dads is a recreational and non-competitive activity consisting of two-hour-long
games to be held once a week in the UNA community field. The main focus of this activity are dads that live in the UBC neighbourhoods (Hampton Place, Chancellor Place, Hawthorn Place, East Campus, Wesbrook Place and Acadia Park). Even though not the primary focus of the program, future dads from UBC student housing are also welcome (Vanier, Totem, Ponderosa Commons, etc)

We hope this project would create a non-academic environment where student and non-student Dads from the UBC neighbourhoods can share a relaxing break from their routines, and at the same time, a moment to meet each other and build a sense of community.

The main goals of this projects are:

• To foster friendship among neighbors
• To provide space where to practice soccer
• To encourage neighbors to share their knowledge and experiences about the game
• To improve participants skills and health
• To respond to the demand for more options to play soccer

It is planned that this project would be running for about 15 weeks, starting in May.
