WalkingDot

WalkingDot was created out of a love for art, craft, and design. The name was inspired by artist Paul Klee's quote, "A line is a dot that went for a walk". My love for all things creative began when I was a child and loved to do any kind of arts and crafts, from drawing and painting to crocheting and sewing, and so on. This continued into adulthood where I pursued an education in Fine Arts. My passion for art, but interest in design, lead me to Graphic Design where I learned to create with a purpose.

Although I am new to Etsy, I have experience and skills in Fine Arts and Graphic Design that have led me to create items where art, craft, and design meet. The joy I feel when I create something that I put my heart and soul into is incredible, but it is even better when I get to see and hear about others enjoying what I create. I became interested in baby decor and accessories since I became an aunt to a beautiful niece and adorable nephew! I wanted to make beautiful gifts that would last and be memorable and meaningful for years to come. So I began making crochet baby blankets and personalized name wall hangings. But not just any wooden letter wall hangings. Ones that combine art, craft, and design.

My wall hangings combine canvas squares with wooden letters and hand-painted patterns, layouts and color schemes that I design and put together. The squares are hung vertically on a long ribbon as a wall hanging. If left individually, they can stand on their own on a table or as a photo prop, or can be hung horizontally. My crochet baby blankets use a variety of stitches and contemporary designs with coordinating colors. Crocheting baby blankets has led me to crochet other items, including hats, scarves, bibs, pet beds, and more. The result is handmade, high quality items, as I put much time into each and every item. As a perfectionist, I make sure of that.
