West Elgin Mutual has been part of the community for over 135 years. Our head office location is Dutton, Ontario and that’s where you’ll find the President/CEO … that is where claims and underwriting decisions are made … not Toronto … not Montreal … not New York.

There are no shareholders, only policyholders and we pour our resources into service and long term value for the policyholder – not returns for the shareholder.

Mutual’s are founded on the principle of neighbour helping neighbour which means you have the peace of mind of dealing with neighbours that understand your needs. We use a dedicated group of exclusive agents, available at your convenience, to service your insurance needs – they are all local and homegrown and live and work in communities like Dutton, Rodney, Shedden and Aylmer.

Our Board of Directors are policyholders themselves and are responsible for strategic planning, monitoring, advising and succession planning.

We believe in supporting our community and our staff are actively involved in local service clubs and church organizations. They coach hockey, baseball and soccer for youth, are 4H leaders and are involved in many agricultural organizations.

We help fund community projects in the areas we serve, support local fall fairs and work closely with local volunteer fire departments for such things as special equipment purchases, smoke alarm installation programs and fire prevention education.
