William Hawrelak Park is a park in Edmonton, Alberta. It is named after former mayor William Hawrelak, and was formerly known as Mayfair Park.AmenitiesThe park is situated in Edmonton's river valley, next to the North Saskatchewan River. Rented paddleboats may be used on the artificial lake during summer. The lake is also used for the swimming portion of the Edmonton Triathlon. In the winter the lake is used as a skating rink.As with all City of Edmonton Parks, the park is open to the public from 5am-11pm, 365 days a year. The park has walking–hiking trails around the perimeter which can be used for cross-country skiing in the winter. There are picnic sites, a playground, and even beach volleyball nets on site. Many of the picnic sites feature fire pits.From 1998 until 2008, the park hosted the Bright Nights Festival around Christmas. In December of 2016 and 2017, the park played host to the Silver Skate Festival, which featured an ice castle and other outdoor winter activities.
