William R. Jacyk, MD, FRCPC, graduated with his medical degree in 1964 from the University of Manitoba College of Medicine in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He subsequently trained at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. A member of the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians Canada, Dr. Jacyck has authored several articles and enjoys reading The British Medical Journal. As a result of his outstanding performance in the field of addiction medicine, The International Association of HealthCare Professionals (IAHCP) has selected William R. Jacyk, MD, FRCPC, to be featured in the premier publication of The Leading Physicians of the World. Earlier in his career, he was a keen advocate for individuals who have suffered childhood, adult, domestic and occupational trauma and for several years was the chairman of the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness. He was recognized for his contribution by receiving the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2002 and has published research identifying the issues of alcohol and prescription drug abuse in the elderly.
