Join Wilma's Transition house in the vision to create a violence free society by being an integral part of the greater world-wide vision to end family violence, by cultivating opportunities for empowerment, independence and self-discovery.
Wilma's Transition House, formerly known as Xolhemet Society was created in 1988 as a Non-profit Incorporated Society dedicated solely to providing services to victims of family violence through support, advocacy and education.
In 1991 Wilma's Transition House opened an 18-bed Transition House for women and children affected by family violence. The Transition House is operated as a free, safe and temporary shelter.
In 1996, Wilma's Transition House opened a 5 (2 and 3 bedroom) unit Second Stage Housing Program for women and children in the process of creating a safe and healthy environment for themselves and their children and requiring a longer term stay than a Transition House can provide.
All services operated by Wilma's Transition House are available to all ethnicities.
