Mosquito KB161 "City of Vancouver" was the first Canadian-built Mosquito to enter combat in Europe in August of 1943. Sadly, it was also the first to be lost in action, catching fire on landing after a Pathfinder mission in May 1944. F/O G.W.Lewis lost his life in the crash near Cambridge, England. The Mosquito being built here in Windsor when completed will display the markings of this historically significant aircraft.
Most of the project is being built entirely from scratch from the thousands of original engineering drawings, some original parts recovered from a wreck in the North West Territories in 1996 are also being incorporated into the build.
