More about WUSC at UNBSJ

A Strong Network.
We are professionals, students, volunteers, faculty, and community leaders working together to find solutions and provide opportunities to the world’s most marginalized people.

Board of Directors
WUSC’s volunteer Board of Directors is a mix of scholars, students, WUSC alumni, CEOs and prominent figures representing government, the international and educational community across Canada and overseas.

Our members are people who contribute their time and energy to WUSC because they share our belief in the power of education to change the world. Our membership categories include:

Institutional Members
Local Committee Members
Alumni Members

Our members have a say on WUSC’s governance. As voting delegates during our Annual Assembly, they help frame our agenda and our priorities, elect our Board of Directors and can be nominated to serve as Board members.
Our Staff WUSC’s has dedicated staff in Canada and overseas. Our head office is located in Ottawa, Ontario with field offices in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Universities and Colleges play an important role in providing sound academic expertise in development initiatives. With our ability to link Canada’s universities and colleges to our work in international development and cooperation, WUSC has been leveraging this expertise for over 60 years.

More than 40 post-secondary institutions across Canada - including universities, community colleges and CEGEPs - are members of WUSC, contributing valuable insight in our policies, vision and programs.

We share the belief that education changes the world and, WUSC members, universities and colleges give students, staff and faculty access to our growing roster of programs and activities in Canada and the developing world. These include:

* Engaging students on more than 80 university and college across Canada and providing them with hands-on experiences to connect with global issues through the Student Refugee Program, International Local Committee Network, Students Without Borders™ and our annual International Seminar;

* Diversifying and internationalizing campuses by bringing students from the South to Canada through our International Student Management;

* Providing staff and faculty with an opportunity to guide and support WUSC’s student-led Student Refugee Program;

* Providing a bridge between theory and practice through the WUSC International Forum and National Research Seminar;

* Providing staff and faculty with professional development opportunities through Leave for Change®;

* Providing opportunities for institutions and their faculty and staff to apply their skills and expertise to support sustainable development in key areas in which WUSC is engaged internationally by collaborating with WUSC’s Program Development unit on international proposals and programs;

* Providing senior management with opportunities to create partnership in developing countries through our University & College Missions.
