More about Colette Blain D.O. Ostéopathie

I have devoted the better part of my career to helping others enjoy life and achieve their best possible health. Having explored emergency and nursing care, I went in search of a system that offered more than a band-aid approach to health. I became a Can-Fit-Pro certified personal trainer, NCCP trained Triathlon Coach and YMCA FIT certified spin and aqua-fitness instructor. Still, I yearned to learn more about the body and it’s natural healing process. Osteopathy was the logical conclusion.

Osteopathy is a natural manual medicine which treats pain and imbalance by relieving the restrictions that interfere with function in the body. Osteopathic philosophy embraces the notion that the body is naturally capable of healing itself. The practitioner of osteopathy works with the body to enhance this natural ability to self-regulate and self-heal. This truly appealed to me and I have found it to provide the best results in promoting optimal health.

Without specializing, I have had great success with treating reflux, migraines, sciatica, back and hip issues, as well as neck and shoulder conditions. I treat all musculoskeletal conditions, chronic pain, digestive issues, pregnancy and postpartum clients as well as children.

I have a special interest in helping my patients get or remain active. I find it truly gratifying to work with new and experienced triathletes and other athletes, to help them get past old injuries, remain active throughout pregnancy and reach their fitness and performance goals. Adults wanting to improve their fitness will benefit from treatments that restore proper function as well as the guidance they need to help them stay on course throughout their lifetime.

Treatments incorporate various gentle osteopathic techniques including visceral mobilization, cranial-sacral therapy, vertebral and joint mobilization and soft tissue release techniques. With my extensive exercise background, I am also highly skilled at providing education and home exercises when indicated.

I believe in working with the body in an intuitive, yet structural way. Osteopathy provides the mechanism to adjust and fine tune how we move and function in life. I am honoured to work within the profession of Osteopathy and observe the benefits with my clients.

I am a SCMMAC licensed Osteopathic Manual Practitioner in Canada and a certified member of RITMA (Diplomée en ostéopathie—D.O.) in Quebec.

In my spare time, I enjoy exercise in all its forms and have completed half marathons and half ironmans, but my new life in the country has revived my old love of paddling, hiking and cross-country skiing.
